Condolence

The members of the Asom Kristi Kendra, Madhabdev Namghar, Puja Committee, Meghalaya Rongali Bihu Sanmilan, Madhabdev Yuva Sangha, Jhankar and Mahila Committee held an emergent meeting under the president ship of Kalu Bora on Sunday and condoled for the death of legendary singer Dr Bhupen Hazarika. The meeting observed a minute silence and prayed to God for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Workshop

The Seng Khasi College along with the Regional English Language Office, American Embassy-Delhi in collaboration with the English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELTAI), Shillong will be organising a two-day workshop on ‘Teaching the Language Skills’ at Seng Khasi College premises on November 11 and 12.

 Demonstration

The Meghalaya Joint Council of Trade Unions & Association will hold a demonstration on November 8 at 11:30am at Parking Lot, opposite CTO Building, Swami Vivekananda Road against price rise of essential commodities, recent petrol price hike and in support of countrywide “Jhel Bhoro” agitation programme call given by 13 Central Trade Unions and Confederation / All India Federations of different Unions/Associations of various sectors of the country against the skyrocketing price rise and anti-people policy of the central government.

 Guru Nanak birth anniversary

The 543rd Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev will be celebrated by City Gurudwara, Bara Bazar in its premises and other places. A procession will be taken out on November 9 according to Sikh customs starting from City Gurudwara and will proceed towards GS Road till Sri Guru Singh Sabha (near AIR). Later after offering prayers the procession will return to the City Gurudwara via GS Road – IGP Point – Civil Hospital – Cantonment Gurudwara. On November 10 the celebration will continue with Bhog Sri Akhand Path Sahebji with “Gurbani Shabad Kirtan” by local and invited Ragi Jathas.
