Umshyrpi, BBS college register wins

Inter college cricket

SHILLONG: Umshyrpi and Raid Laban College registered wins in the ongoing Inter College Cricket Tournament at the Cricket Ground, Polo on Tuesday. Umshyrpi College defeated Raid Laban College by 13 runs while BBS College defeated K.L.Bajoria by four wickets in the day’s encounters.

In the first match, Umshyrpi College won the toss and elected to bat. The Raid Laban bowlers did well to restrict the Umshyrpi batsmen who could only manage a modest total of 98 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Nawdeep Kumar scored 17 runs of 17 balls for the batting side while Kanaiya Shah and Reuben bagged two wickets each.

In reply, Raid Laban College made a mess of the chase as they were bundled out for a paltry 85 runs in 19.3 overs. Usman Laskar scored 18 runs while Syed Salman and Uttam Chanda claimed two wickets apiece.

In another low scoring affair, K.L.Bajoria College won the toss and elected to bat in the second match of the day.

The Bajoria batters put up a score of 103 for the loss of nine wickets in the alloted 20 overs. K.Ngujhli scored 24 off 30 balls while Naveen took three wickets for 20 runs.

In reply BBS College reached the target in 15.5 overs losing six wickets. Manish scored 27 of 25 balls while S.Hruji took three wickets for 20 runs.

Both Umshyrpi and BBS College have more or less assured themselves of a semi final berth in the tournament.
