Los Angeles: Pop superstar Shakira has become the first Columbian to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ‘Waka Waka’ hitmaker has been immortalised with the 2,454th plaque on the Walk of Fame, in front of the new W Hotel at the corner of the iconic Hollywood & Vine intersection, reported Starpulse online.

“This is incredible. I would like to thank all of you,” Shakira said to hundreds of screaming fans who attended the ceremony on Tuesday.

She also revealed that she toured Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame with her mother when she was just seven-years-old and her mother had said, “Shaki, one day you’ll have your own star here.”

The star unveiling is just the beginning of what promises to be a big week for the 37-year-old singer.

She’ll be named the Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year for her charity work. (PTI)
