Shillong: The State Government has decided to enhance the Dearness Allowances for the Government employees by six per cent.

The DA, payable to all government employees including pensioners and family pension holders, has been enhanced from the existing rate of 43 per cent to 49 per cent with effect from July 1 2011, official sources informed on Thursday.

Official sources further added that the orders shall also apply to the members of the work-charged establishment and casual workers other than bungalow peons, holding posts in the scales of pay as admissible to the employees of corresponding categories under the regular establishment, services and posts.

“The payment of the DA shall be debited to the respective heads of accounts from which the employees, pensioners and family pension holders draw their salaries and pensions respectively,” the sources added.
