GUWAHATI: Fans and mourners of legendary music composer and singer Dr Bhupen Hazarika continued to pay homage to the late maestro as urns containing ashes of his funeral pyre travel across Assam on Friday.

The urns containing the ashes were sent to all districts in the state to enable mourners to pay their last respects after cremation was held at Jalukbari in Guwahati on Wednesday.

The ashes will be submerged in major rivers flowing through the state. It had already been submerged in Jorhat and Nagaon districts today.

Meanwhile, a public shraddh ceremony of the late maestro had been planned by the family of Dr Hazarika and the state government on November 15.

The public shraddh will be held at an open field in Chandmari area of Guwahati near the locality where Dr Hazarika’s residence is located.

The vedic rituals will take place at Dr Hazarika’s residence before an all-faith prayer meet at the open field.(UNI)
