Rejected lover attacks girl, mother
Agra: A rejected lover attacked a girl and her mother with crude bombs in this Taj city, injuring them seriously, police said Saturday. The youth has been arrested. The incident took place in the Kalindi Vihar colony of Trans-Yamuna area Friday. Etmauddaula police station officers said Manish Jain forcibly entered the house of his neighbour and threw three crude bombs. One did not explode while the two others seriously injured the mother and daughter. The victims are struggling for life at S.N. Medical College’s emergency ward. The bomb hit 23-year-old Kavita Sharma on her abdomen and badly burnt her body. Neighbours told the police that the boy was madly in love with Kavita and having failed to get any response resorted to the act. Police late night arrested the boy. Deputy Inspector General Aseem Arun and other senior officials reached the site and ordered inquiry. A case has been registered on the complaint lodged by the mother Rajeshwari. (IANS)
Two killed in boiler explosion
Agra: A couple was killed and three others were injured when a boiler in a rubber factory exploded in Nunuhai locality under Etmaddaula police station of Agra district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning. Panic gripped the area following the explosion in the boiler of J J factory. A couple was killed and three others injured , the sources at Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) office said. Senior police officials reached the spot and the reason behind the incident was being ascertained, sources added. (UNI)
14-yr-old Dalit molested in MP
Bhopal: Congress’ Madhya Pradesh unit spokesperson Manak Agrawal today alleged that a 14-year-old SDalit girl was stripped and molested by police officials at Lohari village in Betul district about a fortnight back. Agrawal told media here that the family had tried to lodge complaint but police refused to register a case. Hence, the family came to the state capital. Her family members — who were also present — said the girl had gone to collect fuel wood with her two brothers on October 26 when home guard Jaipal Singh Thakur molested her. Her mother went to lodge complaint with police but it was not recorded. On the next day, police reached their house and took the girl, her mother and three other family members to police station where the girl was allegedly stripped and jewellery taken from her mother. When their efforts to lodge police complaint failed, the family came to Bhopal. (UNI)
Man kills wife, 4 daughters
Faizabad: In a gruesome incident, a person allegedly hacked his wife and four minor daughters to death in Moiyakapur Ka Purwa in Purakalandar area of Faizabad district. One Deen Dayal Tiwari hacked his wife and four daughters with an axe last night owing to family tension, R K Chaturvedi, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Faizabad, said. Bodies of the wife and four minor girls — Smriti (10), Shurti (08), Garima(6) and Mahima(4) were found today. Tiwari was subsequently arrested and he had admitted to the crime, the SP said. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and further probe was on, he said. (UNI)
Head Constable commits suicide
Kolkata: An on duty Head Constable of Railway Protection Force (RPF) posted at Eastern Railway’s Howrah Station KP Tiwary (59) was allegedly committed by pulling trigger on him from his service rifle on Saturday. Eastern Railway informed the victim shot himself at about 9 am near the parcel office of Howrah Station. According to report, keeping his mobile phone to one of his colleagues, who was also on duty with him, he triggered off bullet from his rifle to kill himself. He was belonged to Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, where he went on leave for some days and returned on November 5. A suicidal note was also recovered by police from his pocket from which it was known that he was suffering from some problems in his brain. He was also suffering from some Neurological problems. The body was sent to Howrah General Hospital. (UNI)
Yellow striped rare lizard spotted
Shimoga: A rare lizard, about five inches long and slightly bigger than the common wall lizard was found at Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district. The lizard found by a farmer G M Hegde, a resident of Sirsi-Banavasi road in Sirsi, is of brown colour and has five yellow stripes around its body. He said he found the lizard under a coconut palm while cleaning his garden. He took photographs of the lizard and brought it to the notice of Shridhar Bhat, who is a lecturer in the Forestry College in Sirsi. Bhat identified the lizard as Banded Rock Gecko and its botanical name is Cyrtodactylus and it belongs to ‘dekkanensis’ species. Usually such lizards are found in the Himalayas and in the Western Ghats. They are found under boulders, and on the branches of trees in the forest, Mr Bhat added. (UNI)
Unclaimed suitcase outside airport creates confusion
Chennai: The Airport security personnel were on their toes as an unclaimed suitcase outside the International Airport, created a flutter on Saturday afternoon. Soon after noticing the suitcase, abandoned at the car parking area, the Airport Manager made an announcement through the Public address system, asking for the owner. As no one came forward to claim possession, the security personnel grew suspicious. They panicked as the suitcase had a Sri Lankan Airlines tag and the passenger, who left the suitcase had arrived from Colombo in the 0910 flight. Suspecting that it could be a suitcase bomb, the security personnel summoned the bomb disposal squad, who, however, found with the help of sniffer dogs that the suitcase had no explosive material.
