SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma lost his cool while reacting to a question over the delay in constitution of the new body of the Meghalaya State Women’s Commission (MSWC).

Dr Mukul was visibly annoyed when a group of journalists drew his attention to the severe criticism from various quarters, particularly women activists on the inordinate delay of reconstituting the Commission.

“I can also criticise about a lot of things, but I do not have the time,” the Chief Minister retorted.

Dr Mukul also said, “If the commission is reconstituted it would become public knowledge”.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had blamed the delay in reconstituting the

Commission on the grounds that “there are too many competent women wishing to head the commission”.

The previous MSCW, also the second commission with a three year term of office, had expired in July this year, but the new Commission is yet to be constituted.
