London: Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp says he doesn’t care if his new movie The Rum Diary is successful or not because he was only interested in making a good movie that has a lasting effect.

The 48-year-old actor insisted he never worries about his movies making a lot of money and he thinks the film will stand the test of time, reported Contactmusic.

“No, I don’t care about the money, not really. I believe that this film, regardless of what it makes in, you know, has a shelf life. I think it will stick around and people will watch it and enjoy it,” Depp said.

The actor also believes the film, based on the semi-biographical book of the same name by Hunter S Thompson will most definitely be a bigger hit in Europe because it is too intelligent for American audiences.

“It’s something that will be more appreciated in Europe I think. Because it’s – well, I think it’s an intelligent film. And a lot of times, outside the big cities in the States, they don’t want that.” (PTI)
