Eight projects to represent State in National Science Congress

 SHILLONG: The State Level Congress of the 19th National Children’s Science Congress, 2011 was organized recently at the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides, State Headquarters, Laban by the State Council of Science, Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya. The programme was inaugurated by Science & Technology minister Ampareen Lyngdoh.

Altogether thirty projects were presented during the day long programme by project teams representing all the seven districts of the State.

In the end eight best projects were selected to represent the state in the National Science Congress (NSC) to be held at Jaipur National University, Jaipur, Rajasthan from December 27-31. The eight students whose projects are chosen for the NSC are Issonde Lyngdoh, Pariong Presbyterian HS School, Pariong; Wanbiang M Pohing, Laitumkhrah Presbyterian HS School, Shillong; Edawanbiang Dhar, Jaintia Secondary School, Jowai; Gunsa Irma Ch Marak, St. Xavier’s Secondary School, Tura; Shaphranglin Lyngdoh, Presbyterian Secondary School, Mawlangwir; Aayushi Mehrotra, Army Public School, Shillong; Jessica Nongrum, St. Paul’s Secondary School, Nongpoh and Nangiohshwa Shadap, Jowai Public School, Jowai. These candidates were selected, from the district level congresses organized at different district headquarters earlier, for the state level congress.

The projects of Pariong Presbyterian HS School, Pariong and Laitumkhrah Presbyterian HS School, Shillong have also been selected to represent the state in the forthcoming “Indian Science Congress Session” to be held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha from January 3-7, 2012.
