Militant hideout busted

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Wednesday busted a militant hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, police said. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and Rashtriya Rifles busted the hideout during a search operation in Najwan forest, 40 km from here, they said. An Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) with three grenades, a pistol with six rounds, three kg explosive material, two hand grenades, three metre fuse wire, four detonators and two AK magazines with 242 rounds were recovered from the hideout. 11 killed, 22 injured in accidents

PATNA: At least 11 persons were killed and 22 others injured in separate accidents in Bhojpur, Begusarai, East Champaran and Nawada districts of Bihar on Wednesday, police said. Seven members of a family were killed and eight others injured when a truck laden with stonechips overturned at Joravar village in Bhojpur district this afternoon, Deputy Superintendent of Police G M Kumar said. The injured were admitted to Sadar hospital at Ara where condition of three persons was stated to be critical, Kumar said. Among those killed, two were women and four children, he said. An official report from Begusarai district said a man and his son died and his wife was injured when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle at Kund Dhala area. Two others died and 13 others were injured in separate road accidents in East Champaran and Nawada districts on Wednesday, the police said. (PTI)

Two CISF jawans killed in firing

RAIPUR: Two CISF jawans were killed and four others injured when Naxals ambushed a patrol team deployed at a National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) mine at Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district today. “The Naxals opened fire at a patrol team deployed at an NMDC mine at Aakash Nagar under Bicheli station area killing two CISF jawans and injuring four others,” a police official said. The jawans retaliated following which the Naxals fled, police said. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital. (PTI)
