3 ULFA cadres killed

TINSUKIA(Assam): Security forces shot dead three ULFA insurgents in an encounter in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district in the small hours on Thursday, defence sources said here. The joint team of Arunachal Pradesh police and troops of the 26 Maratha Regiment cordoned off the Migru area where presence of ULFA militants were suspected and launched a search operation. The militants fired on the personnel who retaliated and in the ensuing encounter that started at about 1.30 am and lasted nearly two hours, three ULFA cadres were killed, the sources said. The three ULFA men were identified as Kapil Bora, Ramen Gogoi and Bikash. Two AK-47 rifles, one pistol, a grenade launcher, a magazine with 25 live cartridges were found from the spot, they said.
