WKH, Ri-Bhoi register wins

SHILLONG: All Jaintia Cricket Association defeated West Khasi Hills (WKH) District Cricket Asociation by two runs in the inaugural match of the Shillong zone U-19 District Cricket Tournament organized by Meghalaya Cricket Association on Wednesday.

In another close encounter, Ri-Bhoi District emerged victorious defeating East Khasi Hills by one wicket. Batting first East Khasi Hills (EKH) scored 109 in 26 overs with Sanvert (23) as the highest scorer while Akshay Singh bagged six wickets. In reply Ri-Bhoi scored 113 runs losing nine wickets with Kynpham notching 21 runs. Sanvert in a all round performance claimed three wickets for East Khasi Hills. West Khasi Hills will play Shillong Cricket Association (SCA) on Friday.It may be mentioned that there are five districts including Shillong Cricket Association playing in Shillong zone and three in Tura zone, in the 50 overs a side league format. The winner of Shillong zone shall meet with West Garo Hills – the champion of Tura zone, in the finals at Shillong.

In the under-16 category, SCA,the champion of Shillong zone shall play the champion of Tura zone. The final is schedule at Tura on 3rd December.

Meanwhile, MCA will organise a coaching camp for women cricketers of Meghalaya from Saturday at Cricket Ground, Polo. All interested players are eligible to participate.
