Los Angeles: Demi Moore is ending her six-year-old marriage to Ashton Kutcher amid reports that the actor cheated on her. Moore, 49, said that she decided to divorce Kutcher, 33, “with great sadness and a heavy heart,” reported E!Online.

The rumours of their impending split were doing the rounds for past three month in Hollywood after it was revealed that Kutcher cheated on her with 22-year-old Sara Leal at a San Diego hotel room in September.

Kutcher, at 33, is 16-years junior to Moore.

The actress, who appeared thin after news of Kutcher’s infidelity went viral, explained her reason for split in a long statement.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,” Moore said.

On his part, Kutcher took to Twitter to explain the failure of his marriage.

“I will forever cherish the time I spend with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and light, AK.”

Neither of them commented on Leal’s allegations directly and were believed to be trying to resolve the problems in their relationship but apparently it did not work out. Moore has three daughters from her first marriage to actor Bruce Willis. (PTI)
