SHILLONG: The Police department has revoked the suspension order of Sub-Inspector SN Roy who was allegedly involved in the gang-rape of a school girl at a city hotel at Khyndailad here on March 17 last.

Police sources on Friday informed that Roy has been directed to join his new posting at Baghmara, South Garo Hills.

The latest development has taken many by surprise, since the police, had themselves earlier claimed that there was enough evidence to establish Roy’s involvement in the gang-rape.

Roy had absconded to Bihar after taking unauthorized sick leave soon after the incident came to light. However, he surrendered before the Court of Judicial Magistrate MB Challam on July 29, much to the surprise of the police who had been trailing him.

Besides Roy, police arrested four others — Bobby Jyrwa Nongsiej, Johny Kshiar, Brando Nongrum and Angel Dulian (classmate of the victim) — who were also allegedly involved in the gang-rape.
