SHILLONG: All Jaintia Cricket Association defeated Ri-Bhoi by 20 runs in a closely fought encounter during a Shillong zone league match of the Inter District Under-19 Cricket Tournament here on Sunday.
Winning the toss Ri-Bhoi put in their opponent to bat first. The team from Jaintia Hills paced their innings well but were all out for 184 runs in 45.3 overs with Diebormi scoring a brilliant 77 of 125 balls. Wilbert bowled brilliantly to claim five wickets giving away only 25 runs in the process.
In reply Ri-Bhoi started shakily but their innings was gradually steadied by a patient knock of 64 in 83 balls by Ronald, who brought his team close to the target.
However the team from Ri-Bhoi fell 20 runs short of the target due to a lower order collapse and lack of support for Ronald. Heisser claimed three wickets conceding 26 runs for All Jaintia.
On Monday Shillong Cricket Association will play All Jaintia Cricket Association.
