PLA militants held in Guwahati
Guwahati: Three militants of Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) of Manipur have been apprehended from the city, police said on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, the city police nabbed the trio from Dispur area, which houses the Assam secretariat, last night, they said. The militants were undergoing treatment at a private nursing home when they were picked up, the police said, adding they were being interrogated. (PTI)
Two Arunachal districts selected
Itanagar: The National Disaster Management Authority of India (NDMA) has selected two districts of Arunachal Pradesh for implementation of National School Safety Programme (NSSP) among 43 districts of the country. Lohit and East Siang districts have been selected for the implementation of the demonstration project to promote culture of safety in schools, official sources said here on Sunday. (PTI)
Teacher stabs son to death
Imphal: A college lecturer stabbed his son, a police sub-inspector, to death after an altercation over family matters in Manipur’s Imphal West district, official sources said on Sunday. Sources said Hekrujam Rajendro (58), a lecturer at Nambol Sanoi College stabbed his son H. Darwin alias Tarun (28) at their house at Changangei area in Imphal west district. (PTI)
Bullet riddled body recovered
Imphal: A bullet-riddled body of a jawan of 35th Assam Rifles battalion was recovered in Manipur’s Chandel district, official sources said on Sunday. The body of Kabinda Choudhuri (28), was recovered from Sajik Tampak hill village. (PTI)
