One held for incest in Jaintia Hills

 JOWAI: In a heinous act of crime a three-year-old minor of Tuber Shohshrieh village was allegedly raped by her step-father on Sunday evening at around 6 pm.

The victim was immediately shifted to Jowai Civil Hospital in a critical condition and was immediately referred to Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong.

Village Defense Party (VDP) members along with member of Ka Sein Manbei in the village apprehended the alleged rapist identified as Dariker Muruh of Khanduli village and handed him over to Phramer Police. The accused was arrested immediately and taken to Jowai Civil Hospital for medical examination.

Muruh, later, revealed that the girl was sleeping with him alone as her mother was not present in the house when he committed the crime.

One killed over land dispute

One Kyrshan War of Dai-stong village in Jaintia Hills district was allegedly killed by four persons on Saturday night.

Sources allege that one Roy Kympad along with his three sons, Dei-iing Pyrngap, Dio Pyrngap and Pynskhem Pyrngap had killed War over some land dispute.

According to sources, on Saturday evening War was travelling home in a Tata Sumo and on reaching Lumshyrngan village, Kympad along with his three sons pulled him out of the vehicle and dragged him about 20 metre from the PWD road to a nearby jungle and killed him.

Sources also informed that War was married to the youngest sister of Kympad’s wife.
