KOLKATA: In an open show of rift that ended the pre-poll camaradarie, author and social activist Mahasweta Devi on Monday slammed the Mamata Banerjee Govt calling it ‘fascist’ and demanded for people the right to protest.

The police denial to stage a meeting of the Association for Protection of Democratic Rights (APDR) is alleged to have a deeper root in the tussle between the state Govt and Maoists.

”If she (Mamata) has any sensibility, she should immediately withdraw this hukamat (dictat),” she said. (UNI)
