Bagan to lock horns with Prayag United

Kolkata: Fresh from their victory over arch-rivals East Bengal, Mohun Bagan will lock horns with Prayag United Sports Club in a round seven I-League fixture here on Wednesday.

United SC are the only side from the four Kolkata teams to remain unbeaten from six matches and the local challengers will aim to keep their slate clean against the tournament heavyweights who will miss Jose Ramirez Barreto and Jewel Raja (both double booking).

Bagan will also be without the injured duo of Anwar Ali and Rakesh Masih but they seemed relaxed and confident after their victory over East Bengal two days ago.

Coach Prasanta Banerjee, however, warned his players to be on guard against complacency as Mohun Bagan (15 points) are below leaders Churchill Brothers in the points tally.

“We have warned all the players not to be over-confident. After winning a derby players seem to relax but that is all past. Now we need to think about tomorrow’s match,” Banerjee said.

United SC will also miss the suspended duo of Arnab Mondal and Denson Devadas and has an injury scare to Lalkamal Bhowmick. (PTI)
