TURA: In what can be termed as a boost to the Indian National Congress (INC), an MDC of the Nationalist Congress Party along with his party workers have joined the INC in Baghmara, South Garo Hills.

The NCP, MDC, Olendro R. Marak, along with a sizeable number of active workers of the party merged with the Congress in a district Congress Committee (DCC) meeting held at the district Congress Bhavan in Baghmara.

The Congress is aspiring to dominate the 2013 ST/LA general Elections in the entire South Garo Hills District, claim party officials.

Out of five opposition MDCs in the district two have joined the Congress, till date.

Senior Congress functionaries who were at the meeting were Dalu MLA Samuel M. Sangma, MLA Francis Pondit Sangma, GHADC CEM P. K. Sangma, Council Chairman Alphonse A. Sangma, and others.
