Srinagar: Kashmir was gripped by a cold wave as night temperature across the Valley dipped below the freezing point, a MeT official said on Saturday.

The Pahalgam tourist resort in South Kashmir was the coldest place in the Kashmir Valley where the minimum temperature plummeted to minus 3.6 deg C, the official said. Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir Valley, also witnessed severe cold with a temperature of minus 2.2 deg C, followed by north Kashmir’s Gulmarg skiing resort at minus 2 deg C. Srinagar (minus 0.2 deg C), Kupwara (minus 0.2 deg C) and Kokernag (minus 0.3 deg C) also witnessed sub-zero night temperature, the official said.

There is no forecast of downpour in the plains of Kashmir over the next 24 hours, continuing the state’s dry spell over the last two weeks. (PTI)
