JOWAI: A day after the Centre gave its seal to the Lanka-Sutnga railway project, the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) has opposed it saying “the proposed rail line will bring no benefit to people rather it would only encourage influx into the district”.

The JYF in a statement has made it clear that it will not allow the project to become a reality.

While condemning Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma and Union Minister of State for Water resources Vincent H Pala for accepting the proposal, the JYF called upon local people and NGOs to jointly oppose the proposed railway project.
