Man held for sexually abusing stepdaughters

 SHILLONG: One, Samar Nath (26) of New Colony, Laitumkhrah was arrested by police here on Tuesday for sexually abusing and behaving obscenely with his two stepdaughters, 14 and 7 year old girls in front of his wife and the girls’ mother. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, the wife of the accused, who is a tribal, admitted that her husband sexually abuse her two daughters everyday. “My daughters complained about this everyday and when I tried to confront him, he would beat me up”, she rued.

When the daughters complained this to their maternal uncle, he immediately informed the Hynñiewtrep National Achik Movement (HANM) who apprehended Samar and made him parade from Khyndai Lad till Motphran carrying a placard which read ‘I am Samar Nath (Sameer) who raped my own Khasi stepdaughters. Beware! Tribal women of the state’On reaching Motphran, Samar was handed over to the Lumdiengjri police station and accordingly, an FIR was filed by the HANM on Tuesday and Nath was arrested by the police. Later he was handed over to the Laitumkhrah PS for further investigation.
