London: Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse’s dress, which she wore for the cover of her hit album ‘Back to Black’, has been auctioned for USD 67,000.

The singer passed away on July 23, aged 27, at her London home under unexplained circumstances. It is said that Winehouse’s tragic death was a result of alcohol poisoning, a coroner ruled.

She had struggled with substance abuse for many years and despite periods of sobriety, resumed drinking shortly before her death, reported Daily Mirror. The dress worn by the late was auctioned in London.

The white and red printed chiffon dress, designed by Thailand-based designer Disaya, was purchased by the Foundation Museo de la Moda in Chili.

The dress’ designer donated the proceeds from the sale to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was set up by the singer’s family to help vulnerable young people.

Winehouse’s father Mitch, who was present at the auction said “The family was just over the moon and this is a wonderful start to the foundation.” (PTI)
