H’bill Festival begins

KOHIMA: Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar will inaugurate the week-long Hornbill Festival 2011 on Thursday at the Naga Heritage Village of Kisama about 12 km east of Kohima, while Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio will be the host of the festival. Official sources here on Wednesday said the seven-day long festival will be open with traditional welcome by the Angami Nagas from Viswema village under Kohima district. The programme will be followed by traditional blessing. (UNI)

Two commit suicide

AIZAWL: Lalchhandama (32) a resident of Keifang, and his cousin Lalawmpuia (31) from Aizawl’s Zotlang locality, ended their lives together for reasons that will remain unknown. The two cousins were found hanging from an iron hook fixed on the ceiling of Lalchhandama’s bedroom at Keifang around on Wednesday, an incident that shocked not only their relatives, but also the entire town of Keifang. The two cousins were heavily drunk since Tuesday. (UNI)
