MiG-21 crashes in Haryana village

Sirsa (Har): A MiG-21 Bison fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force on Friday crashed in a field near here shortly after take off, but the pilot ejected safely. The plane was on a routine training sortie when it crashed at Mania village, about 40 km from here, police and air force officials said. “The aircraft had taken off from the Sirsa air base for a routine training sortie and crashed a little while after getting airborne,” an IAF spokesperson said in Delhi. He said that the air force has ordered a court of inquiry to ascertain the reasons leading to the mishap. (PTI)

Man shoots wife

Unnao (UP): A 40-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband in this district after she objected to his illicit relationship with another woman, police said. Kusma was shot dead while she was sleeping in the house in Thana village last night by her husband Rakesh Yadav, they said. According to the brother of the victim, Yadav was having an affair with another woman of the same village over which the couple had been fighting. Kusma, who had been living with her parents for the past one year, had returned only 25 days ago on the assurance of Yadav, he added. A case has been registered against Yadav and his brother in this connection, police said. (PTI)

4 members of a family commit suicide

Bangalore: Four members of a doctor’s family committed suicide due to heavy debt at Valmiki Nagar extension in the City on Friday. Police said the deceased were identified as Dr Ananulla, Dr Nahid, their son Neeraj and daughter Nivej. The family had raised loans for purchasing a Nursing Home and for admission to Medical College in Kolar for Neeraj on payment seat. But when the business was not clicking and there was pressure for returning the money by the lenders, the victims took the extreme step. (UNI)

Father sets ablaze son

Basti: A two-year old boy died on Friday after being set ablaze allegedly by his own father in the neighbouring Sant Kabirnagar district. The boy’s mother Noorjahan told police she and her husband Jalaluddin got into a fight over the latter’s decision to marry for a second time. Following this, the husband tried to set her and her son ablaze after sprinkling kerosene. The boy succumbed to his injuries, police said adding the accused has been taken into custody. (PTI)

Man gets liffer for killing brother, sis-in-law

Deoria: A local court has handed life imprisonment to a man, found guilty of killing his younger brother and sister-in-law in a four-year-old case in Pandeypur vilege under Baghauch Ghat police station in Deori district of Uttar Pradesh. Kamlesh, son of Ramdev, was accused of killing his younger brother Ramesh and his wife Reeta by throwing acid on them on July 18,2007. They were admitted to a hospital and died during the treatment. After hearing both the parties, special judge Arun Kumar Tiwari sentenced Kamlesh to life imprisonment ifer along with a fine of Rs 1.10 lakh in his verdict delivered last evening. (UNI)
