Cajee’s pro-poor scheme

 Shillong: Mawlai MLA Founder S Cajee on Saturday distributed work orders to 400 supporters of Congress from Mawlai under the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) for the year 2009-10.

These work orders, which is Rs 5000 per recipient, will benefit the poor people of the locality and it will enable them to start their own small business, Cajee said.

It was mentioned over Rs 2 lakh was spent by the MLA from his personal benefit scheme at Madan Heh, Mawlai Phudmuri here on Saturday. “Till date we have spent Rs 2 crore from the MLA scheme and Rs 3 crore is still left”, Cajee said.

Earlier, Rangbah Shnong of Mawlai Phudmuri Dolphin Lyngkot alleged that only Congress supporters were benefited from this scheme. Meanwhile, a woman has lauded the Cajee’s initiative saying “This will really help poor people like us.”
