Jaintia Hills gets mortuary van, ambulance

 JOWAI: Nartiang MLA, ECB Bamon and Jowai (Central) MDC Moonlight Pariat on Saturday formally released a mortuary van and an ambulance respectively of the Jaintia Cultural Welfare Association (JCWA).

Both the vehicles were funded by Rajya Sabha member Thomas A Sangma under MP’s area development fund.

The meeting, organized at Loom-soo-iung on this occasion, was presided over by the JCWA president S. Pariat in the presence of the NCP’s district president O. Lamin.

Both Bamon and Moonlight Pariat praised for his initiative for the welfare of the Jaintia people.

JJM Nichols Roy memorial stone unveiled: The Executive Secretary of Pastors’ Fellowship, Rev Dr AR Marwein unveiled a commemorative stone of (L) Rev. JJM Nichols Roy, who is the pioneer of the Church of God, at Sohmynting village in Jaintia Hills on Saturday.

The unveiling of the commemorative foundation stone was also a part of the pre- Centennial Celebration of the Church, which was started in 1912 by Rev. JJM Nichols Roy.

Church Secretary, Orland Kya informed that Rev. JJM Nichols Roy has come to stay in Sohmynting village in 1906 and founded the Church there in 1912. He stayed in Sohmynthing village and preached the Gospel till he decided to join politics.

He informed that preparation for centenary celebration was going on in a full swing.

A special prayer meeting was also organized on the occasion.
