SHILLONG: In a bizarre incident, a person collapsed and subsequently died due to cardiac arrest at the venue of an all-faith meeting held in memory of late Dr Bhupen Hazarika and Dr Indira Goswami at Assam Krishti Kendra here on Sunday.

The person identified as Pradip Barua of Barua Store, Police Bazaar, in his 50s, went to the podium to translate the speech of a Bubdhist monk and after translating a few words, he collapsed at around 5.15 pm near the lectern.

Doctors present at the venue tried to save his life, but in vain. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
