Reduced age limit
The deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has informed that the Ministry of Rural Development has reduced the age limit under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age pension scheme (INGOAPS) to above 60-79 years of age at Rs 250 per month and and above 80 years at Rs 500 per month, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) to above 40-59 years oaf age at Rs 200 per month and Indira Gandhi National Disability pension scheme (IGNDPS) to above 18-59years of age at Rs 200 per month.
Labour welfare centres
The Labour Commissioner,, Meghalaya has informed that Labour Welfare Centres have been set up at Sohra, Umiam, Mendipathar, Byrnihat and Khliehriat for imparting training in sewing, knitting and embroidery for the benefit of the family members of the labourers. The course will be for six months and it will commence from January 2012 and the current number of seats for the course is 30. The Government will also provide a stipend of Rs 200 for each trainee.
Appeal
The Meghalaya Civil Service Officers Association has expressed its concern over the recent abduction of PK Boro by militant outfits at the same time the security of the civil officers posted in Garo Hills. The association has asked the government to ensure the safety and security of the life of Boro and to take urgent steps for his immediate release. The association also extended its solidarity with the wife of Boro and his family members.

Survey
This is for information of the residents of the Shillong Municipal areas that the Shillong Municipal Board will conduct the Socio Economic and Caste Census, 2011 w.e.f December 8. During the period of enumeration the officials will be visiting each and every household to conduct the survey and residents are requested to extend their cooperation for the success of the survey.
