UDP welcomes KHNAM merger

 JOWAI: The core committee of United Democratic Party (UDP), Jaintia Hills district unit has unanimously welcomed the merger of the Khun u Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) with it.

This was informed by UDP’s district unit president and former MLA, Sing Mulieh after the core committee meeting held here on Tuesday.

The meeting, attended by prominent leaders of the party, also discussed the party’s preparedness for Assembly election due in 2013. The meeting decided to constitute an election committee.

“We have to convene a special party meeting on December 22 to form an election committee,” Mulieh said.

Meanwhile, LD Lakiang, UDP’s district unit general secretary has decided to quit the party on personal ground.

Jolt to NCP: The chief organiser of NCP in Jaintia Hills, TZ Dkhar has resigned from the party on personal ground.
