SHILLONG: The availability of opportunities in Meghalaya basically agro-based are mostly wasted due to lack of proper infrastructure, vision, financial and other assistance to take forward these available opportunities.
In a bid to exploit these potentialities, the Meghalaya Institute for Entrepreneurship (MIE) which was established on March 2011 will mobilize, coordinate and encourage the small activities of various stakeholders in the rural as well as urban sector but will stress its operation more at the village level, particularly in the areas of marketing and implementing, strengthening of new and existing value addition units, packaging of agro-based and plantation based products through small business enterprises.
To further discuss on the problems and obstacles faced by the youth of the state to invest in their business, consultant of the Planning Commission, Government of India, Harsh Srivastava in the presence of an officer on special duty (MIE), Aibor Swer besides other young trainers and media persons discussed at length on this topic at Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) here on Wednesday.
The institute will also work towards sustaining the existing entrepreneurs, which it recognizes as an action which is as important as and possibly more important than, creating new entrepreneurs.
