Low-intensity bomb blast at Wokha in Nagaland

KOHIMA: A low-intensity bomb blast occurred at the administrative officers’ building, G A Colony at Wokha here on Thursday.

According to official sources, the bomb was planted beside a water tank of the officers’ building and it was suspected that Gelatin sticks were used in the blast that took place on evening at around 1930 hours.

The building reportedly housed the offices of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of Wokha, Nokcha Sashi; Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Shayin Shen and EAC (HQ), Renbemo.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Anthony Ngullie confirmed the incident and said officers were away at the time of the blast.

He said investigation was on in this regard.

No casualties was reported so far.

Nagaland Guv to lay foundation stone of first Nursing College: Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar will lay the foundation stone of the first Nursing College of the state at the Christian Institute of Health Science and Research (CIHSR) at Dimapur Saturday.

Official sources said after getting the green signals to start the much-awaited Nursing College in Nagaland, the Department of Health and Family Welfare and director of the CIHSR informed that the foundation stone laying ceremony would be held tomorrow, where Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio would grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively.

It may be noted that Nagaland University has already issued ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) for setting up the College of Nursing, which has also been verified and inspected by Assam Nursing College.

It further said the programme to be held on December 10 was the formal foundation stone laying ceremony of the main complex for the Nursing College. (Agencies)
