Father son kidnapped

Imphal: A father and his son were kidnapped from a government office in Imphal East district of Manipur by suspected militants, official reports said on Saturday.

The watchman of Irilbung water supply, identified as S Ibomcha (57), and his son S Gitchandra (27) were kidnapped by some unidentified gunmen on December 7 in the night. Local residents of Irilbung launched sit-in protests demanding their release, reports said adding that the kidnappers had not released them.

Official sources said police forces have been asked to search at suspected areas for the kidnapped persons.

It was not known whether they were kidnapped for ransom or for some other personal matter. (PTI)
