Barpeta (Assam): A six-year-old child was killed allegedly by his step-father at Kalgachia in lower Assam’s Barpeta district, police said on Saturday.
Sahanur Ali allegedly killed Zahidul Islam when his wife Zahura Khatun had gone out to work as a daily wage earner, sources said. After strangulating the child, Sahanur hid his body among the kitchen wastes of his house and fled away.
A search operation has been launched to track out the absconding man. Demanding the assailant’s arrest, local people claimed that Sahanur had earlier attempted to kill his wife’s son and daughter (6) from her former husband. (PTI)
