GUWAHATI: Two candidates – Pankaj Bora of Congress and an independent Jesim Raja filed their nominations for the December 22 Rajya Sabha election in Assam.

Bora, accompanied by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhubaneswar Kalita, filed his papers before legislative assembly Secretary G P Das.

Bora’s win is almost certain as opposition parties have decided not to field any candidate.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Congress nominee Silvius Condpan. (PTI)
