SHILLONG: A parent of an aspiring medical student was duped of over Rs 2 lakh after her son was offered a medical seat in Bangalore.

According to police, Nikita Bareh lodged a complaint on Wednesday at Sadar PS that on August 2011, she paid Rs. 25 lakh to one Sunil Gupta of OM Consultancy, Guwahati at Hotel JK International, Police Bazaar, who promised her to provide admission for her son in a reputed medical institute at Bangalore.

However, they found that no seat was provided after their visit to Bangalore and accordingly went to OM Consultancy, Guwahati wherein only Rs 23 lakh was returned to her. The consultancy is yet to pay the remaining amount of Rs 2 lakh.
