Training programme for farmers

 SHILLONG: A two-day farmers training programme on awareness on Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Act, 2007 was held at KVK, Ri Bhoi, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam in collaboration with the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), Guwahati on December 12-13 for the farmers of Ri Bhoi district.

The training programme was imparted by the scientists of ICAR, Programme Coordinator of KVK, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) and CWC Regional Manager and Officials where aims, objectives, salient features of warehousing, benefits of warehousing, role of central warehousing and its farmers extension service scheme, crop production, factors affecting storability of food grains etc. were discussed.

Metal bins for storage were also distributed to all the 30 farmers of different village of the district. The farmers showed their interest and satisfaction after the training programme.
