SHILLONG: The abducted Block Development Officer (BDO) of Dadenggre, PK Boro, is likely to be released before Christmas sources informed on Wednesday. Boro was abducted exactly a month ago on November 21.

What is interesting in this case is the communal turn it has taken. Garo Hills and the State of Meghalaya with a plethora of NGOs and pressure groups that have a view on everything did not lift a finger to appeal on behalf of Boro.

Only the United Christian Peace Forum and the Bodo Sahitya Sabha appealed for the safe release of Boro who is known to be one of the most honest officers in the State, said a prominent citizen from Garo Hills.

Expressing concern over the issue the prominent citizen said, “Where are the so-called NGOs like Garo Students’ Union (GSU), the JAC, Mothers’ Union and Garo Hills Sentinel for Human Rights? If they do not condemn the act they should at least have appealed for the release of one of the most honest and sincere officers.”
