Shillong: A five-member gang of dacoits robbed over Rs 11 lakh, salaries meant for teachers of two lower primary schools in East Garo Hills district at around 2-15 pm on Thursday.

The gang comprising a mixed group waylaid two teachers coming in two motor bikes at Miapara village and looted Rs 11,86, 950 from them.

Two teachers were from Nogorpara Lower Primary School (Rs 5,14,700 ) and Tombuna Government Lower Primary School (Rs 6,72,250)

Strangely, the authorities of both the schools did not seek for police cover while drawing the huge salary for the teachers.
