JODHPUR: Annoyed over arrest of sacked Minister Mahipal Maderna and sitting MLA Malkhan Singh in the ANM Bhanwari Devi case, a Jat outfit Akhil Bharatiya Adarsh Jat Mahasabha slammed the Congress led Government in Rajasthan for allegedly harassing and defaming some Jat leaders and trapping them in court cases.

A large congregation which held at the Ravan Hatha here to observe former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh’s birth anniversary, took exception to action against community’s leaders including former Minister Maderna–presently in jail in the infamous Bhanwari Devi case-, and held that the government wanted to damage the community politically.

The congregation passed a resolution to protest the “conspiracy” and exhort the community to protest against such conspiracies unitedly. It also called for an agitation against the Congress led Govt to exert pressure for change of the leadership in the govt. A delegation of the organisation would also seek intervention from Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi to lodge the protest and press on the demand.

Sitting Congress MLA former MP Col Sona Ram, rebel MLA Ranvir Singh Pahelwan, Jat leader Vijay Punia and Mahasabha Chief Ram Narain Chaudhary spoke on the occasion. (UNI)
