Sheikh Hasina, Hamid Ansari to visit Tripura University

 AGARTALA: Now, its official Bangladesh Prime Minister Shekh Hasina and Vice President Hamid Ansari will attend the convocation of Tripura University on December 12.

Speaking to reporters at the Civil Secretariat here on Saturday, Addl Chief Secretary KV Satyanarayan said, “Chief Secretary SK Panda had visited New Delhi recently. He returned on December 22 after meeting the Minister for External Affairs SM Krishna. The Union government has confirmed that Bangladesh Prime Minister would be visiting the state on January 12.”

Tripura University, a central Varsity is supposed to confer honourary D. Litt to Hasina in a convocation programme of the Varsity during the visit. Vice President Hamid Ansari would also attend the ceremony, said the Additional Chief Secretary.

Meamwhile, sources said that after his return from New Delhi, Chief Secretary SK Panda convened a meeting at highest quarters to discuss the issue.

All concerned officials were instructed to look into their entrusted duties while the Tripura University has started preparation in full-fledge to offer a grand reception Hasina.

The state government has planed to offer a grand civic reception to Bangladesh Prime Minister at Town Hall.

Professor Arunoday Saha, Vice Chancellor of the University informed the Varsity authorities are taking all necessary steps to ensure a grand reception of the Bangladesh Prime Minister and the Vice President.

The Vice-President is supposed to deliver the convocation address at the convocation ceremony.

He is also supposed to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the residential building of Raj Bhawan here during the visit.

A team of National Security Guards (NSG) would be landing in Agartala shortly to ensure full proof security during the high profile visit of Hasina and Ansari.
