AP Govt reviews situation in view of cyclone threat

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday directed Collectors of some coastal districts to take precautionary measures in view of cyclone threat in Bay of Bengal.

He reviewed the situation with Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi and Commissioner Disaster Management T Radha. The Chief Minister asked the officials to take all precautionary measures to prevent loss of lives and property, official sources said.

Reddy asked senior IAS officers to visit the coastal districts as well as Kadapa, Anantapur, Kurnool and Chittoor to review the measures in view of cyclone threat, they said. A control room has been set up in the office of the Revenue (Disaster Management)Department in the state Secretariat here.

Meanwhile, Dwivedi held a video conference with the Collectors of Nellore, Prakasam,Guntur, West Godavari, East Godavari, Vishakapatnam, Vizinagaram, Krishna, Srikakulam Kadpa, Anantapur and Chittoor districts to review the arrangements made in case of any contingency arising out of the cyclone.
