IMPHAL: Three political parties have formed a pre-poll alliance for the forthcoming January 28 assembly elections in Manipur. Opposition leader and senior Manipur People’s Party (MPP) leader O Joy said on Tuesday that they have decided to form a pre-poll alliance with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Janata Dal (United).
JD (U) national president Arun Kumar Srivastava said the alliance is meant to defeat the Congress and bring a new government to help the people.
NCP Manipur unit president Radhabinod Koijam, a former chief minister, said, “the people of Manipur are not satisfied with the present government as they couldn’t even solve the blocking of two national highways for more than 120 days.”
Manipur People’s Party (PPP) president Nimaichand Luwang said people of Manipur should not be swayed by money power.
The Election Commission has written to all political parties asking them to avoid cash transactions and instruct their cadres not to carry huge cash during elections.. (PTI)
