Hyderabad: The cyclonic storm ‘Thane’ further intensified sotrm and moved west-southwestwards direction and lay centred at 0830 hours on Thursday about 250 km east-southeast of Chennai.
The system was likely to move westwards and cross north Tamil Nadu coast between Nagapattinam and Chennai, close to Puducherry around morning of 30 December 2011, the Met Office said here on Thursday.
Under its influence, isolated heavy to very heavy rain would occur in the districts of Nellore and Prakasam of coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.
Isolated heavy rain would occur in the districts of Chittoor and Cuddapah of Rayalaseema during the same period.
Gale winds, speed reaching 45-50 kmph likely in the districts of Nellore and Prakasam of the area.
Moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers would occur at most places over Rayalaseema and in the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore in the coastal area. Isolated rain or thundershowers would occur in the remaining districts.
Mainly dry weather would prevail over Telangana.
The sky condition would be partly cloudy over Hyderabad and neighbourhood over next two days. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 31 and 14 degrees Celsius respectively. (PTI)
