SHILLONG: The agitating employees of city based SS Netcom Pvt. Ltd. joined their service on Friday morning.

The affected employees of the SS Netcom Pvt. Ltd. run Call Centre – which caters to inbound calls of Aircel customers – took the agitation path following manpower downsizing adopted by the management on Thursday morning.

The downsizing was affected due to a new national policy of Aircel for which the call centre process has to be changed from per login / hour to per connect minute that will come into force from January 15.

Confirming this, a source from the company said that all the employees who were re-inducted on Thursday evening have joined their service on Friday morning. “The management have sent us a confirmation email stating that no employees will be removed from service ,” said an employee who was clamoring on Thursday’s agitation along with other employees of the company.

It may be mentioned that the employees alleged that the moment they logged into their respective desks on Thursday morning, they were asked to leave without any prior notice by the management.

However, on Thursday evening the CEO of the company confirmed that no employees will be rusticated following a later confirmation from Aircel.

Meanwhile, Thursday’s episode in SS Netcom Pvt. Ltd. has sent a warning bell to other private sector employees who are working in the corporate sector in the city. While expressing their solidarity with the employees of SS Netcom Pvt. Ltd., many such staff from other corporate organizations said that the American “Hire and Fire” is rampantly practiced in Indian organizations, too.
