‘Cong relying on money power to buy votes’

SHILLONG: The National Congress Party (NCP) has asserted that the state Congress party is relying on its money power to buy votes in the upcoming 2013 MLA elections scheduled to take place early next year.

Talking to The Shillong Times here about the NCPs preparations for the upcoming elections, NCP Leader Conrad Sangma said,” Congress is relying on its money power to buy votes but people are intelligent and know what to do and who to elect.” Most of the political parties in the state have already started their initial ground work for the 2013 elections and many of the contenders have already started their door to door campaigning.Reacting to a query about the NCPs preparations for the elections, NCP leader Conrad Sangma stated that the NCP is focusing on strengthening the grassroot party organisation by organising numerous conference for general youths and women’s body.“We are also working on ensuring that people are made aware of how this government is not bothered about issues related to the common people,” Sangma added.
