TISC certification ceremony

 SHILLONG: The first formal public engagement and certification ceremony of the Tura Internet & Services Centre (TISC), a multi-skill development and training centre (a joint project of Digital Empowerment Foundation, Member of Parliament , Tura and National Internet Exchange of India, Department of IT, Government of India) will be held at the Sora Complex, New Tura on Wednesday at 10:30am.

The Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Ms Agatha Sangma will be the Chief Guest during the ceremony programme and other distinguished guests include Former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Sanjay Goyal among others.

The TISC is aimed at teaching basic and advanced livelihood, employment skills and its entrepreneurship promotion catering to needs of Tura and surrounding areas and its human resources using information communication technology tools and applications.

Key programmes conducted in the past 6 months included Rural BPO training to 25 youths, wireless training to 12 trainees, digital literacy training to 112 students, setting up of wireless network & NGO capacity building training in IT tools.
