75 per cent voting in Karbi poll

DIPHU: An estimated 75 per cent of the voters casted votes on Wednesday for Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) poll which was by and large peaceful.

According to official sources nearly 75 per cent polling was reported in the hill district of Assam which was by and large peaceful barring minor incidents of clash between rival political party supporters.

Altogether 128 candidates are in the fray for 26 seats in the council with the counting of votes scheduled on January nine.

Congress is in power in the council. (PTI)
