AIZAWL: A woman and two kids were burnt to death as the house they were living in was razed to ground by fire at Maubawk locality on the southern fringes of the city on Wednesday night.

The raging fire, believed to be started by a candle at around 2030 hrs, could not be doused by local volunteers and even by the fire brigade, who arrived later.

The charred bodies of Lalhmingsanga (6) and his younger brother Laldinthara (4) were found huddled up in a bathroom while that of Denghliri (46) was found lying separately. The woman temporarily stayed with the victim family as her workplace was too far from her Tanhril home, about 20 km from the state capital.

The three-storey Assam-type building was occupied by three families. The rest of the occupants were either away at the time of the incident or managed to escape.

Home Minister R Lalzirliana, his parliamentary secretary Lalrinmawia and local MLA also visited the fire victims and assured them all possible help. (UNI)
